The Johns Hopkins SAIS faculty page for Adam J. Szubin states that he “joined the Johns Hopkins SAIS faculty as a Distinguished Practitioner-in-Residence in May 2017.” It also states that during the 2017 transition he served as Acting Secretary of the Treasury. The acting-secretary clause is now also on Treasury jl0713. The May 2017 faculty date is SAIS’s.

Covington & Burling’s professional page describes him as a partner/counsel-level sanctions lawyer and lists acting secretary (2017), acting TFI under secretary (2015–2017), and OFAC director (2006–2015). Exact private-practice start day is not treated here as a government filing. The firm page is the firm’s claim.

No ALWAYS-CHECK-list profile of the SAIS/Covington chapter was located as of August 22, 2026, beyond the Fox News nomination-year pieces already cited. This post does not invent one.
